Where are the large items?

One of the questions we always get is "hey where is all the big stuff?" Well there is a lot to answer that. I guess honestly it comes down to the economy, shipping rates, and US shipping. Ok, lets break this down. As everyone knows the economy is in the hole. Most people are not spending the money they used to on large figurines. Also, the largest concern for us manufacturers, is the container shipping. You see, to ship a 40 foot container from China to the US is around 6000-7000 dollars no matter is its full or empty. Large items take up a large section of the container space. Which means that the large items must bare large amounts of shipping per item. For example, in 2006 a 21" gargoyle averaged about 5-6 dollars in shipping per item, now a days that same item would average 15-18 dollars per item. It is more cost effective to have smaller items in the container and lots of them to break the shipping down to an affordable amount. The last part is how to make large items shippable in the US. Lets face it, all the shipping companies are charging tons to ship an item, but the biggest factore is that they treat the packages like hockey pucks. Large items require much more detail in how they are designed, packaged, and shipped. Face it folks, they can be a big pain in the butt. I am sure that when the ecomony settles down and shipping rates fall back in line, you will start to see larger items become available. Until then, just keep your eyes open for the very few that are being produced. I hope this answered many of your questions. Dennis
